Ragged Edge

 image
She sends it as if
It’s an ordinary grocers list
Penciled on a scrap of
 sketch pad
Lettering distinctly
Teachery printing
Softened by
Charcoal lead
She wanted to say
Everything
Fill the page
With decades of
Backwashed loss
And
Found
The very letters growing
And imprint deepening
As she finishes
Without
Saying
 What she could have
Should have
Won’t
She acts
Nonchalant
Tearing it a bit ruthlessly
from the
Spiraled Wires
Leaving ragged edge
So fingers could trace
Again and again
Along
Scalloped edges of the
 Heart

  1. It seems like I’ve either seen it or done it; maybe it’s the good title, maybe it’s the picture. Maybe it’s me. A good piece.

tell me what you think. There's a spot for your name and email, but it isn't necessary when posting a comment
