wizedumb teeth

if only wisdom did come
From within our teeth
Strong enamel
To last nearly a
Lifetime
we could polish
and clean.
Baby teeth
Replaced as they
Wore out.
strong steel
from which to measure ourselves
true or falsely.
Not to be so.
For we lose
Our wisdom
And gain it
Most painfully.
Like the tooth of
The same name.
And hold heads
In pain
Swathed in medicines
As we watch a spring showfall
outside the picture windows.
pinkpurple petals
From the crab apple trees
Who seem to know
How and when
To let go
Painlessly

  1. I lost my wizedumbs @ 21–but after the extraction, especially the mallet to split the reluctant ones, & had to start over accumulating “wiz” @ least now I’m wiser than @ 21. A long difficult route sometimes.

tell me what you think. There's a spot for your name and email, but it isn't necessary when posting a comment
