Davy Jones Locker

I foolishly placate myself
That some permanence exists
here
In hardened steel
Or red sandstone.
Master of my fate.
I let the hours slip away
Into decades.
Unchanged and unchanging.
Holding on to old songs
Old idols.
But ‘it all goes’
She told me.
I have found no
Bluebird wings
under which to hide.

Just scissors to string
And the kite lifts
Sky bound.
Towards the seas.
